Intel’s Core i9-14900KS CPU Leaked, Features World’s Fastest Clock Speed On A Consumer Chip

The upcoming Intel Core i9-14900KS “Special Edition” CPU has caused a stir in the tech world as details of its exceptional clock speed have been leaked. According to the source, the chip is set to boost up to an incredible 6.2 GHz, making it the fastest clocked processor on the planet. The leak, originating from Isreal-based retailer PC-Online, came after they listed several pre-built PCs featuring the yet-to-be-released CPU.

The leaked specs reveal that the Core i9-14900KS is expected to offer the same configuration as the Core i9-14900K, with 24 cores in an 8 P-Core and 16 E-Core layout, 32 threads, and a boost clock of up to 6.20 GHz. This clock speed is 200 MHz higher than both the Core i9-13900KS and the Core i9-14900K, which operate at up to 6.0 GHz. Additionally, the CPU is set to retain its 36 MB of L3 cache and 32 MB of L2 cache.

The power consumption of the Core i9-14900KS is projected to be more similar to the Core i9-13900KS than the Core i9-14900K, with a base power of 150W and a maximum turbo power of 253W. However, it is expected to exceed 300W, in line with the power consumption of the 13900KS.

Interestingly, the systems listed with the Core i9-14900KS CPU are unusual as they use DDR4-3200 memory rather than the more forward-looking DDR5 DRAM standard. This has sparked speculation that the clock speeds listed with the systems may have been guessed based on a clock speed bump for each 14th-gen chip.

It is anticipated that Intel will officially unveil the Core i9-14900KS at either the December 14th launch event for Meteor Lake / Emerald Rapids or at CES 2024.

When it comes to pricing, the Core i9-14900KS is expected to be priced at around $799. This places it above the Core i9-14900K (priced at $589) and the Core i9-14900KF (priced at $564), indicating that the special edition chip will come with a premium cost.

The CPU’s release is eagerly awaited by tech enthusiasts and overclockers, as the previous version, the 14900K, has achieved up to 9.1 GHz, and it is expected that the 14900KS will break more world records.

In conclusion, while the arrival of the Intel Core i9-14900KS promises impressive capabilities and performance, enthusiasts will have to wait until the official unveiling to see the full extent of its potential.
