At Blizzcon 2023, production directors Tiffany Wat and Chris Wilson announced the first full expansion for Diablo 4, titled “Vessel of Hatred”.
This expansion will focus on the prime evil Mephisto and his influence on the world of Sanctuary.
While no gameplay was shown during the announcement, Wat and Wilson revealed that the expansion will introduce a new class that has never been seen before in Diablo 4.
Additionally, a new area will be added to the Sanctuary, which is already available in the game.
Diablo 4’s first season of content faced some criticism, but season 2 seems to be receiving a much better reception at the moment.
The announcement trailer for the “Vessel of Hatred” expansion is now available to watch.
It showcases a panning shot through a forest and concludes with a glimpse of pyramids or forts protruding from the canopy.
Diablo 4 New Expansion ‘Vessel of Hatred‘ is set to be released in late 2024.
As a long-term Diablo fan, the idea of a new hero is personally exciting. It would be great to see a hero that can wear actual armor, beyond the existing angry barbarian.
Blizzcon 2023 also featured new character teasers for other Blizzard games.
Overwatch 2 fans got a first look at the new hero Mauga, and expansions for Hearthstone and World of Warcraft were also announced.
