AMD Radeon RX 7900M “RDNA 3” Flagship Laptop GPU Benchmarked, Outperforms NVIDIA’s RTX 4090 in Vulkan Tests but Lags in OpenCL, New Leak Reveals
The highly anticipated benchmark results for AMD’s latest flagship Radeon RX 7900M “RDNA 3” laptop GPU have been leaked, revealing impressive performance in Vulkan tests but falling short in OpenCL benchmarks. The latest leak showcases the power of the RDNA 3 architecture and its potential to compete with industry giants like NVIDIA.
According to the leaked benchmarks, the AMD Radeon RX 7900M GPU boasts 36 WGPs or 72 Compute Units, offering a total of 4608 cores. With clock speeds peaking at 2090 MHz and a 16 GB memory capacity, the GPU is positioned to rival NVIDIA’s top RTX 40 offerings.
In terms of performance, the Radeon RX 7900M scored a remarkable 171,430 points in the Vulkan benchmark, surpassing both the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 laptop GPUs. This places the AMD GPU nearly on par with the RTX 4070 Ti desktop graphics card, delivering performance akin to the RTX 3090 Ti or RX 6950 XT in a laptop form factor.
However, in the OpenCL benchmark, the Radeon RX 7900M scored 144,611 points, falling behind the RTX 4080 laptop GPU by -11.5%. Despite this, the GPU still outperformed the 4090 laptop chip in Vulkan tests, which are more commonly used in gaming applications.
The leaked benchmarks shed light on the superior Vulkan performance of the Radeon RX 7900M, aligning with AMD’s internal benchmarks and demonstrating its potential for gaming. Additionally, the GPU’s higher target TGP compared to the RTX 4080 suggests that laptops featuring the AMD GPU may cost less while delivering compelling performance.
The benchmarks have underscored the strength of the RDNA 3 architecture in AMD’s latest flagship laptop GPU, positioning it as a formidable competitor in the gaming market. While the leaked benchmarks offer an exciting glimpse into the Radeon RX 7900M’s capabilities, many are eager to see it in more laptop configurations and options in the near future.
As the industry eagerly anticipates the official launch and reviews of the AMD Radeon RX 7900M “RDNA 3” laptop GPU, the leaked benchmark results have already sparked significant interest and excitement among gaming enthusiasts and technology enthusiasts.
With its impressive performance in Vulkan tests and the potential cost-saving benefits for laptop configurations, the Radeon RX 7900M is poised to make a significant impact in the gaming industry, further heating up the competition among leading GPU manufacturers.
